The Challenge

A leading electronics company spent approximately €10 million annually on road freight across the EMEA region. The company wanted to reduce costs on both freight rates and surcharges while securing more dependable transport services.

Their shipment portfolio included e-commerce parcels, palletized loads, and high-value goods requiring secured transport, necessitating a variety of carrier capabilities. The company sought a more flexible multi-carrier solution compared to their existing approach but lacked the internal resources to perform the detailed analytics and bid management needed to achieve these objectives.

The Solution

BridgeNet recommended implementing a comprehensive multi-carrier tender to generate competitive pricing and improve service reliability.

The project was managed from end-to-end, covering data gathering, cleansing, bidding event execution, and detailed scenario analysis.

Key actions included:

  • Preparing and cleansing the shipment data to produce a robust working analysis.

  • Designing a custom bidding sheet tailored to the customer’s unique shipping profile.

  • Creating a Carrier Bid Builder file containing shipment volumes, high-level details, and structured bidding templates.

  • Running a multi-round bidding process, with targeted second-round benchmarks to maximize potential savings.

  • Performing comprehensive analysis of carrier bids from each round, including Best Case, As-Is, Suggested, and Customizable Scenario results.

  • Giving the customer the ability to model highly tailored scenarios aligned with operational and strategic priorities.

  • Allocating carrier awards based on the final scenario chosen by the customer.

The Results

Following the bidding process, BNS provided a combination of standard and fully customized savings scenarios. The customer achieved potential annual savings of more than 15%. In addition, the project enabled the company to implement more reliable multi-carrier strategies and to adapt procurement plans to specific shipment types, including high-value and e-commerce freight.
